Why fresh water in Israel & China Is scarce
Israel
Israel’s water crisis is both natural and man-made. Israel has suffered from several years of drought. The increase in demand for water for domestic uses, caused by population growth and the rising standard of living have led to water sources being over utilised. Israel has suffered from a continuing water shortage for years and in recent years and the situation has developed into a crisis that it is feared that by the next summer it may be difficult to supply all households with water.
China
The water resources of China are affected by both severe water quantity shortages and severe water quality pollution. A growing population and rapid economic development as well as lax environmental oversight have increased water demand and pollution. China has responded by measures such as rapidly building out the water infrastructure and increasing regulation as well as exploring a number of further technological solutions.
